Classical civilizations
When we think of the ancient civilizations in Europe, we think of the beauty in Athens and the civilization based in Rome. But don't forget that the Roman empire stretched from Spain to Turkey, along the coast of the Mediterranean. Cities like Barcelona and London began as Barcino and Londinium, respectively, and many other points in between still bear the mark of the Roman empire.
