When Italians occupied this island in the 1920s, they tried to improve the grounds at Filerimos. They built a walk to Calvary, with stations of the cross leading to a large cross overlooking the island. (If you look closely, you'll see that the text on the image of Christ is in Italian rather than Greek.)
